DESCRIPTION:
Two story Italian Renaissance. Red brick. Slate roof. Hip roof w/three window central dormer (arch above center window); balustrade; dentils. Center pavilion w/stone quoins; three arched openings to recessed entry portico; keystones; iron balcony above portico. Stone lintels above main floor windows; keystones. Shutters on all windows. Sonte quoins at corners of main mass. Full width raised open terrace w/wide steps; stone balustrade and urns. Recessed two story wings either side behind twin loggias w/Palladain arhces and wood balustrades. Wood balustrades w/finials above loggias.
OF INTEREST: This house, which is perhaps the Swiss Avenue home most admired by tourists, was originally built for George Greer, a lawyer and later president of the Magnolia Petroleum Company. The family of Currie McCutcheon, a noted criminal lawyer and one time Dallas county attorney, lived here for over 30 years.
