5819   5803

YEAR BUILT: 1924
ARCHITECT/BUILDER: Contractor: M.E. Faber
ORIGINAL OWNER: W.B. Hamilton
ORIGINAL
DESCRIPTION:
The house continues the trend of combining Progressive with Eclectic. The main roof is hipped and has a deep overhang, but it is made steeper to accomodate the paired front gables. The recessed porch has a low segmental arch and incorporates urns on a dropped parapet in the manner of the Prairie School. The windows are grouped and have a simple glazing pattern. However, the first floor windows appear to have been replaced with steel casements.
OF INTEREST: This home was built for $15,000 and its first occupant was W.B. Hamilton, an attorney.

because it represents Southern beauty and strength.
